What we collect
Nothing you type. The calculators on this site run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. The figures you enter are never transmitted to us, never stored on your device, and disappear the moment you close the tab.
Like every website, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs — IP address, browser type, the page requested and when. These are used for security and to keep the site running, and are not used to build a profile of you.
Cookies
This site sets no cookies of its own. There is no advertising network, no analytics tag and no social media widget embedded in these pages, which is why you are not being asked to consent to anything.
Book cover images
On the book pages, each cover is the publisher’s own jacket image, loaded from Amazon’s image servers rather than copied onto ours. Your browser fetches those pictures directly from Amazon, so Amazon can see the usual things any server sees about a request: your IP address, your browser, and the page that asked for the image.
Those images set no cookies and do not follow you around the web, and no other page on this site loads anything from a third party. If you would rather not make the requests at all, a content blocker will stop them and the pages still work — a plain title tile appears in place of each cover.
Links to other sites
We link to other websites — gov.uk, DVSA, motoring organisations, retailers and manual archives — where they are the better source. Once you follow a link you are on someone else’s site, under their privacy policy and their cookie rules, and we have no control over what they do.
Affiliate links
Some links on this site, particularly on the book pages, are affiliate links. If you follow one and buy something, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you. As an Amazon Associate we earn from qualifying purchases.
This does not affect what we recommend. Books are chosen on merit, and the commission on a paperback is measured in pence.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask what personal data an organisation holds about you and to have it corrected or erased. Since we hold no personal data beyond routine server logs, there is usually nothing to return — but if you want to ask, contact us.
Changes
If this site ever adds analytics, advertising or affiliate links, this page will be updated before that happens, not afterwards.
